About this Performance

B+B-wide.jpg

This program marks the beginning of a four-concert journey, as CPNJ's new MD Maestro Ritenauer guides the orchestra through all four of Johannes Brahms's symphonies. Along the way, audiences will not only experience these masterworks and their inner meaning, but also delve into the fascinating stories behind their creation.

We begin with Beethoven's Egmont Overture, setting the stage for Brahms's first symphonic effort, Symphony in C Minor, opus 68. In future concerts we will follow the evolving legacy of Brahms's symphonic writing, as he moves beyond Beethoven to find his own unique voice.

The concert also features the winner of the Mary G. Roebling Youth Concerto Competition, showcasing one of the area's most talented emerging musicians. Join us as an exceptional young artist achieves a significant milestone on the road to musical mastery.
