CPNJ in the News: “Ritenauer Leads Capital Philharmonic into a New Chapter”
We’re thrilled to share that Princeton Info featured the Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey as its October 7 cover story. Writer Susan Vandongen spoke with Music Director Kyle Ritenauer and Executive Director Jill Aguayo about the 2026–2027 season, Turning Points, and what lies ahead for Trenton’s orchestra.
The article looks closely at Opening Night on Saturday, October 24, which features two world premieres by our Artist-in-Residence, Vince di Mura.
Harmony Villa brings together orchestra, vocalist, pipa and three choruses singing in English and Chinese. It was developed with students from Foundation Academy’s Glee Club, who will perform alongside the orchestra.
L’Hôtel Ritz de Paris: Surrender & Liberation follows the famous hotel from the fall of Paris in 1940 through its liberation in 1944. The score blends full orchestra with a Latin ensemble and solo violin.
The story also introduces readers to Maestro Ritenauer. It covers his work with the National Symphony Orchestra and the New Jersey Symphony, and the Tchaikovsky performance with CPNJ last spring that helped bring him to Trenton. His goal for the orchestra comes through clearly in the piece:
“I want us to do our best to mean something to the community.”
That community focus runs throughout the article. It covers our Young Composers Initiative, supported by the NJEDA, and our Community Access Program, which partners with local nonprofits to bring more neighbors into the concert hall.
Our thanks to Susan Vandongen and Princeton Info for sharing our story. We hope to see you on October 24 at Patriots Theater at the War Memorial as we begin this new chapter together.
